Position Purpose The Head of Senior School leads the pastoral programs for Years 10–12, working closely with the Deputy Principals and Senior Leadership Team to ensure students’ welfare, personal development, and academic success. This role will oversee the Heads of Year (10–12) and contribute to strategic projects that advance the School’s vision for girls’ education. The successful candidate will ensure that every student is supported to develop her strengths and skills, promote wellbeing, and engage in active citizenship, while maintaining alignment with St Hilda’s values and Anglican ethos. Key Responsibilities Lead the vision and strategic development of the Senior School’s pastoral care program Manage Heads of Year (10-12) and support staff professional growth and development Oversee pastoral care, student wellbeing, and behavioural support/consequences for Senior School students Develop age-appropriate leadership, service, and signature learning opportunities for students Liaise with Heads of Faculty, Head of Teaching and Learning, and Head of Boarding to ensure holistic student support Monitor academic and personal development, providing timely feedback to students and parents Manage Senior School events, rites of passage, camps, and retreats Contribute to School-wide strategic initiatives, supporting the Principal and Senior Leadership Team Develop and manage the Senior School budget and administrative processes Foster strong relationships with parents, staff, and students, promoting a positive and collaborative school culture Model the School’s Anglican values and ensure compliance with Student Protection and WHS policies About You We are seeking an experienced leader with a strong understanding of adolescent development, pastoral care, and academic excellence in girls’ education. You will demonstrate: Teaching degree with post-graduate qualifications in education and/or leadership Senior management experience in an educational setting Queensland College of Teachers registration (or eligibility to obtain) Expertise in student welfare, pastoral care, and pedagogy High emotional intelligence, strong communication skills, and proven ability to inspire and lead staff Alignment with Anglican values and the School’s ethos Experience leading strategic initiatives, change management, and staff development Current First Aid and CPR qualifications; Student Protection Officer accreditation/training highly regarded Why Join St Hilda’s?
